Wells Fargo has decided to take me on board. I start orientation and training for a week on May 5th. I guess I really said the right things and acted the right way. I followed up with an awesome thank you note as well. I’d like to thank my friend Matt B for helping me with my resume and with for helping me be prepared for the interview.

I don’t think I could have done it without him! If you haven’t seen my resume, you should.

With the advances in technology and with global warming, would it be unreasonable for me to assume that a car manufacturer would want to make cars more efficient? Apparently this is not the case the Chevrolet. My 2005 Malibu gets better mileage than the new 2008 Malibu. How is it that three years have passed and the MPGs have actually went down on the car? It’s not a more powerful engine or anything.

Maybe it’s time car companies really start to pay attention to things like this. Oil at $116 a barrel tells me it’s time to start caring about our use.

Wells Fargo (Baybrook): The interview went very well. It felt much like me and the interviewer knew each other and were able to just sit and have a very conversational style interview. It wasn’t as much as her asking me questions and then me answering as much as me picking topics and running with them. I made sure to bring up the cross-selling on my own and let her know that I am committed to helping Wells achieve their goal of getting 8 products/services with each customer. As we ended the interview, she told me: “I like your resume and I like you.” So I don’t know if that’s good or not. I should know something regarding this Wells by this Friday or Monday.

Texas Coastal: The interview there went very well. I have a job there if Wells falls through. She told me that the position has been open for 4 months because they want an experienced teller only. I told her that I interviewed with Wells and that I had a good feeling about it. She told me to go for full-time if I could get it. She said just call and let me know what happens. She kinda laughed and was like, if you do get it and know someone else that might want part-time, please send them my way. I think she was very understanding about the waiting period.

Wells Fargo (Fairmont): They called saying they received my resume and invited me to come in for an interview on Wednesday.

My resume is pretty good. Special thanks to my good buddy Matt B for making it for me. He works in HR and told me what kinda things financial institutions are going to be looking for on a resume. I owe him a ton for the resume building assistance! You can view it over on emurse.

I’ll post another update when I find out what the deal is with Wells at Baybrook. I’m hoping they will offer me the position. It’s not “lead” since they don’t hire those from the outside they said. But that’s okay, it’s still a full-time position with a leading business where I can really develop a career.

I have a couple of interviews for this week. I applied to Bank of America, Chase, WaMu, and Wells Fargo. I also applied to Texas Coastal Bank. This morning both Texas Coastal and Wells Fargo called me. I’m meeting with Wells Fargo tomorrow at 10am and then with Texas Coastal on Wednesday morning at 10am. So I have two interviews in two days.

Wells Fargo is for a full-time lead teller position and Texas Coastal is for a part-time teller. We shall see how they go and see where I am at the end of the week. The Credit Union is good but I’m ready for a place where I will really have a chance to move up.

Today, I drove over to visit a friend who lives off the Gulf Freeway. I took the Pasadena Freeway to the Loop then got onto the Gulf Freeway. Of course, I am coming over the ramp to get onto Gulf Freeway and it goes to like stopped. This is because the people coming over in the two lane ramp cannot see the sign that shows that the right lane is going to merge into the left. I’m actually sure they see it but just choose to ignore it. If everyone would start merging when they see the sign warning them the lane ends, the traffic probably wouldn’t come to a stop at the final merge.

Why can’t people just pay attention to the signage and do as it shows? This would make driving here so much better. And then when I was trying to go home, there were two lanes going to the Beltway which were clogged by people speeding past the traffic going south on the Gulf Freeway. Just stay in your lane and go with the flow folks, it works!

I guess it’s all the excitement of driving here.

So, I’ve been reading that McCain is starting to look for running mates now. I’ve also read that he may be considering Huckabee. I really hope he picks someone closer to his views than the traditional Republicans. McCain is so old, I’m afraid he might die and leave another George W. in the office. I wonder who is a good choice for it.

Ideas? Hillary? =P
